Minister Namah Says Tourism is Gold; Milne Bay Brings Back NKK Festivals

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Belden Namah, emphasized the importance of tourism, arts, and culture, referring to them as “a pot of gold.”

He made this statement to highlight his commitment to reviving the National Kenu & Kundu Festivals (NKKF) in Milne Bay Province, at the southern tip of Papua New Guinea.

Hon. Namah took office as Minister on July 9 and has since been focused on enhancing the tourism industry.

Namah arrived to a traditional welcome ceremony in Alotau on September 20th, to present a cheque of K300,000 to the committee of the NKKF.

Minister Namah made a commitment to support the Festival with an additional K200,000 to the NKKF Committee.

The Member for Alotau Open, Hon. Ricky Morris, in welcoming Minister Namah and addressing the crowd at the Alotau Town Mall area, elaborated on the revival of this festival which is a celebration of culture and heritage in Milne Bay Province.

The day ended with a formal welcome of the visiting P & O Princess Cruise ship and a ship tour organized by the Milne Bay Tourism Bureau and the Alotau PNG Ports team.
