At the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, Papua New Guinea's Department of Information and Communication Technology inked a memorandum of agreement with Estonian tech business Cybernectic.
Steven Matainaho, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, signed the MoU with Cybernectic's head of business development, Kevin Tammearu, while touring the digitally modern Estonian Pavilion.
Mr Matainaho stated that the two parties' memorandum of understanding will allow the government to continue developing safe digital projects.
The goal of the Memorandum of Understanding is to expand collaboration in e-governance technology, starting with safe data sharing and interoperability.
Mr Tammearu stated that they would begin by implementing safe data interchange in order to lay a solid foundation upon which future digital services may be built.
He said that, in addition to the technology, Cybernetica would provide advice and assistance to stakeholders, such as in the development of regulations necessary for effective digitalization.
Mr Matainaho will also sign a non-disclosure agreement with Cisco Systems at the 2020 Expo site's Cisco Grove, and he will meet with Etisalat United Arab Emirates' director.
