In a move that slowly opens the economy and boosts the tourism industry, Papua New Guinea has opened its borders for four more countries - Singapore, Hong Kong, Solomon Islands, and Japan. This comes after PNG has already opened its doors to Australia.
According to pandemic response controller David Manning, passengers are still required to obtain approval from his office and must be able to show that they are free of COVID-19 before boarding their flight.
In addition to opening for these countries, Manning said that the curfew of 12pm to 5am in the national capital district has now been lifted. All the rest of the restrictions in relation to the pandemic remains the same.
At present, PNG has seven COVID-19 deaths and 500 cases of the coronavirus.
