For the development of their renewable energy park, landowners from Markham Valley, Morobo have signed lease agreements and development with PNG Biomass, saying that the lease enables construction, site clearing, and operation of the park.
The agreement between these two sanctions is sure to benefit landowners.
Operated by the Mark Markham Valley Biomass Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil Search Ltd, PNG Biomass envisions the park to feature 30MW biomass power plant, funded by Oil Search, and a 17MW solar farm with battery storage that the Australian government and European Union have funded.
PNG Biomass stakeholder engagement manager Jessie Mitir said, “You all are paving the way for sustainable green energy development not only for your own family and community but also for the province and nation for the next 45 years.”
The signing of the agreement happened in Lae followed by a ceremony on the Ganef land in Zifansing Wampar local level government, Huon Gulf.. Witnesses for the event included Orogwangin clansman Luke Kifas.
